Reeps One Crowned 2010 Vauxhall UK Beatbox Champion!

Read a review of the Grand Final from a judge's perspective here on Humanbeatbox.com.

There is only one word to describe what happened last night.... unbe-freakin'-leivable. The night saw drama right from the off with the wildcard battles causing the judges discomfort as the decisions were so tough to make. However, things only got more and more difficult for those with the decision to make.

Second drama of the night came in the form of Layth making it to the stage with literally seconds to go before forfeiting his spot, as he'd been stuck in the Underground. And boy are we glad he made it. Working his way past Funktion in the Quarter-Final, Layth came face to face with defending Champion, Reeps One.

It is at this point that the whole world seemed to explode. Let's start by saying that switching to the new format of free flowing rounds (where the competitors go straight into their battle response after the challenge) was a move that should have been made long ago. The tension and atmosphere were kept at fever pitch as there were less breaks. So, where were we... Oh yeah.... BOOOOOOOM. Layth and Reeps showed what real battles and the free flow battle format are all about. Reeps with his technical agility and musical talent, wowed the crowd with some awe-inspiring patterns. And Layth, who should probably change his name to The Laythinator, was an absolute machine, drilling the audience and Reeps with beats and bass that blew everyone away. In the end, Tyte (one of the Judges) felt compelled to get on the mic to announce the winner himself, stating to the crowd "In the history of this event, this was by far the best battle I've ever seen!". High praise indeed!

Former judge, Hobbit, showed just what he has learned by judging, and took the battles all the way to the grand final where he and Reeps clashed. In what was, once again, a battle of epic proportions with Hobbit perhaps having the crowd slightly more behind him, the judges called for a one minute rematch. It was at this point Reeps One displayed why he's a 2-time national champion, raising his game one last time to put the competition to rest and reclaim his title.

An honourable mention goes to yasSon, who has gone from never winning a battle, to going all the way to the semi-final in a single year. Huge congratulations to you yasSon!
